Heritage Pork

We raise a variety a heritage breed hogs on the farm, including Berkshire and Hampshire from England, and the rare and unique Mangalitsa (the Kobe Beef of Pork!!) from Hungary.

Heritage hogs are better suited for open pasture grazing and foraging through the woods than being raised in confinement. Most Heritage breeds can reach a market weight with little supplemental feed and are beneficial to land when grazed and rotated properly. Heritage breeds tend to be fattier which creates a beautifully marbled richly hued meat that is full of local flavor above and beyond your wildest pork dreams.

Our hogs are born and raised free ranging in a 15 acre paddock comprised of native plants and grasses, wild fruits, acorn filled hardwood stands, and all the bugs they can eat. Our hogs are processed and packaged at USDA certified and inspected facilities here in Alabama to ensure our pork is of the highest quality available to our customers.

Heirloom Produce

When you hear the word “heirloom,” what comes to mind? Generally, we associate the word with a physical object that relates directly to our family’s history—perhaps a well loved piece of furniture, or a luxurious piece of jewelry. They are symbols of where we came from, who our family was, who we are now, and even sometimes make us think of our future.

So when we refer to our produce as “heirlooms” people sometimes as what we mean by this term—when really it’s very straightforward! Heirloom seeds are varieties of plants that have been cultivated and valued for generations. They are reflections of regional flavors; as they were mindfully chosen to suit specific climates and environments. Similar to the heirlooms in your family, these seeds reflect an aspect of our cultural history. We choose to grow heirlooms to nurture and continue that history—and to connect our clients to the rich flavors and culinary experiences they offer.
